* How can the cultural sector survive the financial crisis? *

Now Available: Text by Helmut K. Anheier

http://www.labforculture.org/

LabforCulture delves into the issues surrounding the cultural sector and the global financial crisis by inviting the esteemed Helmut K. Anheier to comment on the year ahead for us in How can the cultural sector survive the financial crisis?

Focusing on the concerns facing those working in the cultural sector, the article looks directly at the future role of governments and institutions, global, societal and economical trends and presents real suggestions for getting through the squeeze.

Is this a year we can all clean up our acts, tighten our belts and work hard at securing the past for the future? It is the Year of Creativity and Innovation, as deemed by the European Commision and maybe we need to embed these words into new organisational techniques to weather the storm.

. . .

LabforCulture is a unique tool for artists, cultural professionals, organisations and networks across the 50 countries of Europe, and a platform for cultural cooperation between Europe and the rest of the world. It provides a wide range of linked information from funding possibilities to cultural news and through their open community space the arts and culture sector can post blogs, search contacts through the online profiles or simply make an announcement about an arts event. The site is in six languages: English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish.
