2014 OPEN CALL > 2014 FESTIVAL THEMATICS AND QUESTIONS > War & Refugee Cities / We the rebuilt

Israel continues its savage assault on the civilians of Lebanon, Issandr El Amrani

A number of cities in the world are currently being demolished as a result of war; cities in Syria, Iraq, Afganistan and South Sudan for example. New cities have been built with tents - in Lebanon, Jordan and Iran. There are a number of refugee cities around the world including Dadaab and Kakuma in northern Kenya and in a less formal way in Bogata, Colombia.

What does it mean to live in a refugee city? Where are the worlds refugee cities? What does it mean to live in a city devastated by war?
